The 'Yamaghantak-kaal' ('Yama Ganda' or 'Yemaganda') is a period of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes duration every day of the week. This time duration is ruled by 'Yama', The God of Death, and therefore, is considered to be inauspicious to move for any travel. Any new project or venture undertaken during 'Yamaghantak Kaal' is not successful. However, work already in progress is not affected.

This time is calculated by dividing 'Dinamaan' into eight equal parts (each of approximately 1 hour 30 minutes). The 'Dinamaan' is the total duration of time between local sunrise and sunset on any given day. The 'Yamaghantak-kaal' and
its order vary from day to day.
