P. Chidambaram was arrested by CBI on the night of 21st August 2019. Palaniappan Chidambaram was one of the most powerful Indian politician who served as the Finance Minister and Home Minister of India, for almost 10 years, from May 2004 through 2014 in the Congress regime.

After BJP Govt. came in power, he is facing corruption charges in INX Media, Aircel-Maxis case. He himself is a very senior lawyer and he also had support of three very senior lawyers of Supreme Court who are also his colleagues in Congress party. Chidambaram evaded CBI interrogation and arrest for more than a year by getting anticipatory bail for record 22 times from Delhi High Court. But, on 20th August 2019 luck finally ran out for Chidambaram when Delhi high court rejected his anticipatory bail. Chidambaram got arrested by CBI on the night of 21st August 2019 after a high voltage drama.
