"vjinstal.exe"
is the installer application for
"Vjyotish",
downloaded
by you from our site. It is a self-extracting
zip archive created through "WinZip Self-Extractor".
Normally, when you run "vjinstal.exe",
it should create required folder (C:\Vjyotish)
and sub-folders on
your C: drive and should extract all
stuffed files to the created folder by itself. "WinZip
Self-Extractor" is a
internationally recognized utility,
which runs on Windows
95, Windows
98,
Windows NT 4.0, Windows
2000, Windows
Me and Windows-XP
(Home and
Professional
versions, both). The Self-extracting
Zip archives (with .exe extension), created by WinZip,
may be run
under any of the Windows
versions.
However, due to unknown reasons, "WinZip
Self-Extractor" fails to execute
properly on some machines sometimes.
When you try to run the installer
application
"vjinstal.exe",
it appears to be executing but
abruptly ends suddenly.
It does not create the folder [C:\Vjyotish]
or does not extract all stuffed files
to this folder.
An
easy solution to this problem:
If you are
also faced with this problem, you may
still install Vjyotish very
easily. In fact, the "vjinstal.exe"
is nothing but a bundle of compressed
files, stuffed within a single
self-extracting zip archive. You may
de-compress these files through any
decompression (zip) utility available
on your computer (for example "WinZip",
"WinRAR",
"PKUnzip"
etc.). If you do not have any such
utility available, you may download
the evaluation version of "WinZip"
from http://winzip.com/.
Now go through the following steps
to install Vjyotish:

First
of all, make a
temporary folder (for
example: folder "\TempVJ", with
the help of Windows
Explorer. |

|
|
2.
|
Now,
open "vjinstal.exe"
(the downloaded
installer
application), with the
help of any
de-compression utility
(like
"WinZip").
You shall be able to
view the names of all
stuffed files within
the "vjinstal.exe".
Select all stuffed
files and extract them
to the just created
temporary folder in previous
step (for example C:\TempVJ\
folder). |

Now,
close
"WinZip" (or
any other
decompression
utility, you used to
extract files in
previous step). All
compressed
files within
the installer
are now
available in
the temporary
folder (C:\TempVJ\). |

Now run
(double click) "install.bat"
(a MS-DOS batch file)
in the temporary
folder (C:\TempVJ\).
It will start normal
program installer and
shall also create required
folder ("C:\Vjyotish")
and sub-folders
within it. Just follow the
simple instructions
appearing on your
screen during the
ongoing installation
process. |

After
the completion of
above step, "Vjyotish" would be
properly installed.
The main application
is "Vjyotish.exe".
You may run it
directly. The
shortcuts (icons) to
"Vjyotish.exe"
would also be placed
on your desktop and
program-menu. |

Make
a blank sub-folder,
named "Vjyotish"
in folder C:\Program
Files\ (i.e.
"C:\Program
Files\Vjyotish\")
also. The program
creates some temporary
files in this folder
while running. This
folder will contain 1
or 2 very small files,
which are
auto-generated by
program. |
