The birth-chart and the planetary longitudes
shown at the start of the program (when you
type your code in the opening screen) are in
North-Indian format with Sidereal
planetary longitudes (using Chirapakshiya
ayanamsa). Vedic astrology uses Sidereal
ephemeris.
Most probably, you are comparing your chart,
prepared for Western astrology. The Western
astrology uses Tropical ephemeris. There
is a difference of about 22-23 degrees
between the two types of ephemeris. Sidereal
ephemeris will always be less 22 or 23
degrees from Tropical ephemeris. Thus a
planet (or ascendant) may be in the same
sign (but at different degrees) in both
systems or Western (Tropical) chart may show
a planet (or ascendant) in a sign higher
than the Vedic (Sidereal) chart.
Thus, the Sidereal planetary longitudes
will be altogether different from the Tropical
longitudes. In Vedic astrology, we use
Sidereal longitudes only.
However, if you wish to compare your chart,
calculated by Vjyotish, with your Tropical
(Western) chart calculated through some
other software, you can still do it through
following steps in Vjyotish:
Vjyotish main menu --> Push “Static
reports” button --> Push “Calculations”
button --> Push “Charts”
button --> Push the
button marked “04”.
It will show you
your tropical (Western) ascendant chart. As
the chart will be presented in North-Indian
style, you might not understand it but you may
still compare
the planetary longitudes written alongside
it. Please remember that there might be a slight difference in
planetary longitudes calculated through two
different softwares.
