This gives the astrological signature for sudden unexpected fortunes and misfortunes. Though
windfall is usually associated with gain, we are using this term to signify both unexpected gains
and losses. These events are not expected, strike suddenly and seem to be unavoidable. This
index broadly represents defeat or insult, accidents, severe mental sorrow, blame, hindrances
or obstructions, disappointments, misfortunes, all sorts of problems,
lethargic ness, disgrace
and degradation, loss of material, imprisonment, troubles in transit, enemy fear, injury from
weapons, inclination towards sinful acts on its negative side and inheritance, legacies, gift
through wills, unearned wealth, easy gains, lost or hidden wealth on its positive side.
The positive index value signifies unexpected monetary gains like unexpected inheritance or
legacy (such as from life insurance policy or an estate through will of a dead person), or gains
in gambling, speculation and lotteries. It also signifies unexpected new opportunities and
contacts, which will be profitable. This index represents some of the very deep and mysterious
aspects of our personality. Positive values in it are conductive for occult studies as well as
profound thinking, research or invention, mathematics, and philosophy. It can give proficiency
in Tantric type Yoga practices. It gives a strong and piercing but not always beneficent
intelligence and can show genius.
The negative index value signifies the reverse--all type of calamities and losses in speculation
& gambling. It indicates destruction, and dishonor and can show the negative, criminal or
violent aspects of the mind. It can represent severe chronic diseases or injury leading to
death. It can indicate those in life whom we are likely to lose to death. It may cause us to suffer
opposition and limitation. It can show distant travels or strange adventures, both in body and
mind.
As mentioned already, these are the results of past Karmas and Destiny and, according to us,
this is that one index which probably cannot be altered by our own efforts. The difference
between the Disease index and this index is that the Disease index is not unexpected and
sudden, but this one is. However, one can make contingency plans through one's efforts to
minimize the impact.
